Dormu Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Dormu, LLC and its subsidiaries and affiliates ("Dormu," "we," "us," or "our") collect, use, disclose, and otherwise process information about you when you access or use our mobile application(s), website(s), products, features, tools, and services (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understand this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. Scope and Important Notes
1.1 This Policy Covers. This Privacy Policy covers information we process about:
- Users of the Dormu app and Services ("Users").
- Individuals in a User's "Contact Network" who receive communications from Dormu (e.g., SMS/push/email alerts) ("Contact Network Members").
1.2 Safety-Related Service. Dormu is designed to provide safety awareness and notifications. Dormu is not a 911 service and does not provide emergency dispatch. (See our Terms and Conditions.)
1.3 Third-Party Platforms. If you download the app through Apple's App Store or Google Play, those platforms may process data independently under their own policies.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information from you, your device, your usage of the Services, and in some cases from third parties.
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: name, email address, phone number, password or authentication credentials, and profile details.
- Contact Network Information: names, phone numbers, email addresses, and relationship labels for your Contact Network Members.
- Safety Preferences & Settings: monitoring schedules, inactivity thresholds, Safe Zones/geofence settings, escalation preferences, notification preferences, SOS settings.
- Communications: messages you send to us (e.g., support requests), feedback, survey responses, and other communications.
- Payment/Subscription Information: if you subscribe through an app marketplace (Apple/Google), we typically receive limited purchase-related information (e.g., subscription status, product ID, transaction receipt tokens). We generally do not receive full card numbers when you pay through Apple/Google.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: device type, operating system/version, app version, language, time zone, device identifiers (such as advertising ID where permitted), IP address, mobile carrier, and network information.
- Usage Information: app screens viewed, features used, clicks/taps, time spent, crash reports, diagnostics, performance logs, and troubleshooting data.
- Notification and Communication Metadata: delivery status, timestamps, and error logs related to push notifications, SMS, and emails (e.g., whether a message was sent, failed, or delivered).
- Approximate Location (if enabled): derived from IP address or other signals.
2.3 Location Information (When You Allow It)
Dormu may collect precise location information (GPS and related signals) if you enable it to support features like location sharing and Safe Zones/geofencing. When collected, your location data is uploaded to Dormu's servers to enable real-time safety monitoring and alert delivery. Location may be:
- Collected in the foreground while using the app, and/or
- Collected in the background if you grant "Always" or similar permissions (subject to OS controls).
You can control location sharing within the app, including choosing between precise and approximate (~1 km) location, or disabling location sharing entirely while still using other monitoring features.
2.4 Motion / Sensor / Activity-Related Information (When You Allow It)
If you grant device permissions, Dormu may collect and upload to our servers motion and sensor-related signals used to support safety features, such as:
- Potential inactivity signals (e.g., device activity indicators)
- Potential immobility signals (e.g., motion-related sensor signals associated with the device)
Note: The specific signals available depend on your device and operating system permissions and may be delayed, degraded, or unavailable.
2.5 Information About Contact Network Members
If a User adds you as a Contact Network Member, we may process your:
- Name (if provided), phone number, email address
- Communications preferences/opt-outs (e.g., STOP for SMS where supported)

When you use safety features, Dormu may share with your Contact Network Members via SMS messages containing clickable location links:
- Alerts (e.g., inactivity/immobility alerts, Safe Zone events, SOS events)
- Location information (including potentially precise location) delivered as a map link in the SMS, if you enable sharing. For SOS alerts, precise location is always shared regardless of your location sharing setting.

These SMS messages are delivered through our third-party communication provider (Twilio) and contain a direct link to your location on a map service.
